South shore business incubator

@ the annadale business center

The South Shore Business Incubator is ready to launch. Located within the Annadale Business Center building at 847 Annadale Road, the South Shore Business Incubator offers a unique opportunity for start up and growing firms in the area.

Recognizing the need for affordable, turn key and flexible office space combined with marketing and mentoring opportunities, the Staten Island Economic Development Corporation (SIEDC) and developer Frank Rizzo of Cornerstone Realty have teamed together to change the way small businesses work. This was a truly collaborative effort between SIEDC, Cornerstone Realty, a grant provided by Empire State Development and consulting work performed by Matrix New World Engineering.

The sleek and modern office space in the newly renovated building in the heart of downtown Annandale offers offices, shared desk space, conference room, telecom, printing services and mailboxes. Various packages are available based on hours of use and client needs. Additionally, SIEDC will be providing marketing and mentoring services for start up firms through their experienced staff and network of members.

Kristina M Schipani

Rapid Prompting Method Specialist

Kristina Schipani is a special education teacher of students with autism. She has been a teacher for over four years with the Department of Education and is currently teaching in a District 75 setting in Staten Island, New York. She has a Masters Degree in Special Education and specializes in Soma’s Rapid Prompting Method (“RPM”).

RPM is a program for students on the spectrum which focuses on education as a basis of communication. It is Kristina’s belief that although a person on the spectrum interacts with the environment differently, it does not mean they are not capable of obtaining the curriculum, manifesting their creativity, and interacting with the world. RPM gives students access to education through the four major learning channels; visual, auditory, kinesthetic and tactile. Through her experiences as a teacher and following Soma’s RPM model, she has had the opportunity to realize that the mind of an autistic individual is hungry to learn about the world. Kristina’s teaching philosophy is based on respecting students’ differences and educating by tapping into their particular learning style. Her students are motivated by their own successes. With patience and perseverance, she has witnessed brilliance. Students found their voice through RPM and she is honored to be part of their journey.
